About StoryWhim

StoryWhim is a thriving, fiction-first software company run by a small team of designers and engineers. Since our March 2024 launch we have built calm workspace tools for people who write novels, novellas, and serial fiction.

What we build

StoryWhim is a workspace for long-form fiction. It brings manuscripts, chapter outlines, character notes, and research into one place so you are not switching between a word processor, a spreadsheet, and a pile of browser tabs. We have offered StoryWhim as a product since March 2024, refining it with working writers rather than chasing every trend in generic productivity software. Writers open StoryWhim for drafting sessions that stretch across months, and that steady return is how we measure success.

This public site describes the product and lets you create an account as part of the StoryWhim experience. When you sign up here, you are using the same account flow we use for the service, not a separate toy signup. The workspace you see in previews reflects how we think about drafting and organization, even as specific features evolve release to release.

How we work

We are under a dozen people and intend to stay lean. StoryWhim is a profitable, sustainable business: we grow when writers finish books and start the next one in the same workspace, not when we inflate headcount or pivot away from fiction. We prefer steady improvements over loud launches, answer support@storywhim.com with the same care we give product decisions, watch where people get stuck in early drafts, and ship changes that reduce friction: fewer clicks to open a chapter, clearer separation between story bible and manuscript, exports that respect your formatting where we can.

We do not treat your manuscript as training data for public models. You own what you write. Our job is to store it safely, make it easy to find, and get out of your way while you work.

What StoryWhim is not

StoryWhim is not a social network for writers, a marketplace for prompts, or an AI ghostwriter. We do not promise to finish your book or replace an editor. We are not a publisher and we do not acquire rights to your work through normal use of the app.

If you need a blank page and a reliable structure around a long project, we built StoryWhim for you. If you want community feeds or automated story generation as the main event, other tools may fit better.
